A Reiki treatment is one of the most relaxing ways of receiving energy. The recipient lies fully clothed on a therapy bed, covered by a light blanket. The practitioner is a channel through which the client draws as much energy as he or she is willing to receive, either on a conscious or unconscious level. Energy flows through the energy channels, loosening and releasing areas of blocked, stuck, energy on all levels of the individual's being - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
The aim of the treatment is to work on the whole person, assisting them in whatever they need to do to create a complete healing process. This may involve changing habits, attitudes, letting go of emotional attachment, or thought patterns that are not conducive to their well-being. A Reiki treatment enables you to see more clearly how you feel about yourself and what is going on in your life. Working on all the particles, atoms and cells of your body it creates an energy vortex in which positive change can be accessed.
Prior to the treatment, the practitioner will scan the client's body by placing his/her hands a few inches above the recipient's body and scanning the whole area, from the feet up to the top of the head. This enables the practitioner to receive information about what is going on in the energy field of their client. It also prepares the receiver by inducing relaxation before the treatment begins.
During a Reiki treatment the practitioner's hands hover or are placed lightly on the body in a series of different positions starting at the head. The energy guides the practitioner where to place the hands for the optimum benefit of the receiver. A treatment usually lasts between 45 mins and one hour.
The recipient usually goes into a state of deep relaxation and may even fall asleep. Different sensations can be experienced within the body such as a feeling of warmth/heat, tingling, pressure and intense cold. The cold feeling is just as beneficial as the warmth/heat feeling and is indicative of intense healing. During the treatment involuntary movements of the body sometimes occur. This means that the client is reaching a deep state of relaxation and that stuck negative energy is being released.
After a Reiki treatment you will be advised to drink plenty of water over the next couple of days. Sometimes you may experience a deep cleansing process that may manifest in physical or emotional symptoms. These usually only last two or three days as the energy clears all the rubbish out of your system, leaving you feeling a whole lot better. For deep or core healing to take place, toxins have to rise to the surface to be released. Not everyone experiences these symptoms. If you do, be aware that deep healing is taking place and that it is a natural part of your treatment.
Consultation and treatment time can last from one to one and a half hours.
